LeapLaw Search Tips

LeapLaw is designed for easy searching and it is best to keep your searches simple. Insert singular words in the search box rather than phrases. For instance, if you are searching for "annual consent of directors", you will get best results by inserting "consent" or "directors" (no quotes necessary when searching). Words and phrases can be separated by commas.

To create more complex searches you can use modifiers in the search syntax.

Optional Modifiers:

AND
Returns results that contain ALL of the search elements you specify. The AND must be enclosed in angle brackets. (Syntax: Power of attorney <and> 8821 )

OR
Returns results that contain at least on of the search elements you specify. The OR must be enclosed in angle brackets. (Syntax: Partnership <or> LLC )

NOT
Excludes documents containing the words or phrases. The NOT must be enclosed in angle brackets. (Syntax: employees <not> stock)

Wildcards:

?
Specifies one alphanumeric character.

*
Specifies zero or more alphanumeric characters.

Numeric Expressions:

If you enter a numeric expression (i.e.: 83(b) ) and receive an error, perform the search again with the value enclosed in single quotes. (Syntax: '83(b)' )
